Our conservatory and South facing award-winning garden offer an ideal location to appreciate the view across the water.

The Clifton is the place to re-engage with the simpler pleasures in life. Come and visit and you'll find we don't fuss, we just do the simple things really well. And with staff that are always ready to add that little extra to ensure your stay is perfect, the Clifton is one seafront hideaway that you might just want to keep all to yourself. Parking is free in our own car park.

The Clifton guest house is owned and operated by David and Carys who have many years experience in hospitality.
As well as an array of bars and restaurants they most recently owned and managed a three star Best Western Hotel with a rosetted restaurant - so you can be confident of an enjoyable and relaxing stay during your holiday.
The person behind the building of Clifton House in 1860 when Shanklin was a booming Victorian Spa resort was William Prouten, Fisherman and Innkeeper at The Chine Inn.
Summer may be the most popular season to visit Shanklin but there are plenty of great reasons to visit in the autumn.
With less crowded cafes, beaches, museums, parks, and attractions, you can take full advantage of the relaxed atmosphere.

With just 14 rooms we are small but perfectly formed accommodation in Shanklin - the right size to give our guests suitable attention without them feeling overcrowded.
The rooms are graded as Premier Suite, Balcony Bay View, Bay View, Standard Deluxe, Standard, and Cosy Sea View.
We also have a Single Room.
Facilities include: remote control flat screen television, hairdryer, desk fan, hot drinks refreshment trays, and luxury eco-friendly toiletries.
Our Standard Twin rooms can be turned into Triple bed rooms for just 30.00 supplement per night.

The Clifton works closely with both Red Funnel and Wightlink Ferry companies to get you the best deal possible to travel to the Island.

Red Funnel is the original Isle of Wight ferry company operating their vehicle service between Southampton and East Cowes.
Situated adjacent to the Isle of Wight Coastal path and open daily from breakfast time The Clifton is a very popular venue for residents, visitors and locals alike who love to just relax in an informal atmosphere enjoying some quality time and good food and drink together in a stunning coastal location in Shanklin.
We have been awarded a maximum Food Hygiene Rating of 5.
The menu features a wide range of refreshments including freshly made coffees and various Dorset Teas, the superb choice of wines is complemented by traditional ciders and Isle of Wight beers in addition to freshly prepared food from our Cafe Menu: sandwiches, light snacks, delicious cream teas and tasty dishes using local produce wherever possible.
