Arundel itself is a historic town, full of character and charm. Famous for its imposing castle, Gothic style cathedral and antique shops, a country town with modern conveniences! There are a multitude of quality restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and shops all within a few minutes walk from Portreeves. Up on the hill overlooking the town is Arundel Castle, the home of the Dukes of Norfolk.

The castle holds many special events throughout the year, during The Arundel Festival (last week in August), it is the atmospheric setting for the Open-Air Shakespeare, spectacular firework concerts, & concert venue for internationally acclaimed artists. Arundel was once a busy Port; nowadays you can take a boat for a more leisurely cruise up the river to Amberley, or to the coast at Littlehampton, just 4 miles away!

Arundel has a thriving artistic community. There are plenty of galleries showing work of international and local artists, and Arundel's gallery trail (part of the Festival) is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon or two!
