Ambleside village itself is one of the best known and visited in The Lake District due to its ideal location, a perfect base at the Heart of the glorious Lakes. The Rothay Garth Ambleside Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful traditional Victorian Lakeland slate building set in its own landscaped grounds.
Whilst retaining its character and many original features, the Rothay Garth offers en suite facilities, a comfortable spacious resident's lounge and drinks service, conservatory, elegant breakfast room and a large private car park. Better still, we are located only a few minutes walk from Lake Windermere at Waterhead and only a short stroll to the restaurants, bars, shops and facilities of Ambleside making us convenient as well as elegant.

Here at The Rothay Garth Ambleside Bed and Breakfast we have a large, comfortable lounge for you to relax in with stunning views of the Ambleside fells, a choice of daily papers, a selection of local interest books and magazines or, if you prefer, you can simply doze off in front of our lovely open fire!
For those who may require something of substance after a hard days walking on the Lake District fells, or a well deserved pre-dinner drink to start your evening before heading out to one of Ambleside's fine restaurants we offer a resident's drinks service between 2pm - 8.30pm.
