The Old Coach House
We offer a warm welcome to all our guests who have booked our holiday cottage. We are located in the Dyfi Valley between the market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau, on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. We are easily accessible by road from all parts of the UK, whilst train travellers can be collected from Machynlleth. We are about thirty minutes from the beautiful sandy beaches of Aberdyfi and Barmouth.

Our Holiday Cottage Accommodation has consistently been graded as Four Star by Visit Wales for the last eight years. We try to ensure that our guests enjoy a peaceful and comfortable stay whilst experiencing a very warm Welsh welcome. We provide beautiful Myddfai bathroom products, made locally in Carmarthenshire. On your arrival you will be provided with locally sourced Dwyfor tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Our welcome pack includes eggs from our hens and home -made cake. Home- made jams and chutneys can be purchased during your stay. We were members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme from 2010 with whom we achieved its Gold Award (and have retained it in each successive assessment - valid until 2016).

Walking: The Old Coach House is situated on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park and it is an ideal location for exploring the magnificent mountains and hidden lakes of Mid Wales.
Wonderful walking on the hills in the Dyfi Valley and beyond, with access toCadair Idris, Pumlumon Fawr, the Cambrian Mountains and the Aran Ranges only a short drive away gives walkers many, varied options.
Glyndwr's Way is 2 miles away, accessed at Cemmaes Road.
The Ramblers' Association has two local groups that would welcome visitors to join them on their varied walks programme.
Our property lies in the heart of the 'Dyfi Biosphere'.
UNESCO gave the Dyfi Valley this special name because of the rich diversity of its natural beauty, heritage and wildlife.
The Biosphere contains the nature reserves at Ynyshir, Ynyslas, the Dyfi estuary and the local towns and villages that are steeped in history.
The term recognises also the local community's efforts to make a positive contribution to a more sustainable world.
The Old Coach House makes its contribution to the Dyfi Biosphere by respecting the environment and supporting local shops and providers.
We were members of the Green Tourism Scheme from 2010 until 2016.
We were awarded a Gold Star in 2010 and successfully retained it until we left the scheme from choice last year.
We have continued to develop and improve our green credentials.
The following information gives you some idea about what we have done to achieve this and how you can help us run a successful green business during your stay with us.
What we have done: As we have refurbished The Old Coach House we have installed insulation and double glazing.
We are located off the A470 in the Dyfi Valley, adjacent to the River Dyfi and the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park.
From Shrewsbury, take the A458 through Welshpool following signs for Dolgellau (and Machynlleth).
Some 26 miles from Welshpool, there is a roundabout at Mallwyd where the A458 meets the A470.
After three miles, just beyond the turning for Aberangell, turn right at The Old Coach House sign through a gate and down the farm track to arrive at The Old Coach House.
Guests who prefer to holiday using public transport are advised that there is an infrequent public travel service in the valley.
