Dr Meikle opened his hydropathic spa in 1868. Think clean eating, outdoor gyms and (questionable) hydrotherapy treatments - 19th century style. Could he imagine that today, Crieff Hydro would still be owned and run by his descendants? Or that guests would be zooming about on quadbikes and Segways, instead of taking ice-cold dips on nurse's orders?.

You wouldn't think it now, looking at our wall of whisky and mixologists shaking up perfect cocktails. Other things have changed too. We built our first self-catering lodges and cabins in 1998.
Then we opened Action Glen in 2003, with more activities than you can shake a stick at. But we didn't stop there, in 2006 we opened BIG Country - the home of our legendary kids' club. In fact, it's the largest registered childcare facility in Britain and offers inclusive childcare for 2 to 12-years olds when staying at Crieff Hydro.
