Wheelgate Country Guest House
Wheelgate is a charming Lake District farmhouse providing bed and breakfast in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The house is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Little Arrow, just to the south of Coniston village and a mere stone's throw from Coniston Water. As you step through the front door into the lounge, the oak beams and panelling, low ceilings and slate fireplace combine to give a sense of Wheelgate's 450 years of history.

Five individually-styled bedrooms include two singles, a four-poster and a king-size or twin-bedded room. All are en-suite with shower and comfortable pocket-sprung bed, and have colour TV with Freeview, free high speed broadband WiFi in all rooms and house, tea and coffee making facilities, big fluffy towels and 'Pure Lakes' toiletries. Mini fridge in every room.

During the pandemic we are offering continental breakfast delivered to your room or alternatively, a packed lunch for you to take with you on your walks. Breakfast will be a choice of Bacon or sausge toasted sandwiches, fruit juce, yoghurt, cereal and toast.
Services
My husband and I stayed here for the third year running for a week and it did not disappoint.
We keep returning to this charming and comfortable 18th century group of cottages at the foot of the Old Man Coniston.
Stuart & Sandy were the perfect hosts for our Break.
Friendly, Knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble.
Our room for the week was the Buttermere suit, it was spacious and had terrific views over the valley below.
Wheelgate is a warm, friendly, and delightful B&B.
The hosts, Sandy and Stuart are lovely people.
During the pandemic we have adjusted our breakfast service.
We will deliver breakfast to your room after pre-ordering the day before.
We will offer a choice of Bacon or sausgae rolls, tea & coffee, cereal, orange juice and toast.
Alternatively, you can have a packed lunch instead or eat in the dining room at 08:30 where a full English Breakfast will be served.
You can elect to not have breakfast and get a 4 per person per day reduction.
This will be refunded on instruction.
Although we do not serve evening meals at Wheelgate, there is plenty of choice locally when it comes to eating out.
