Lochmaddy Hotel was established in 1863, and is the oldest hotel in North Uist. We have a rich history, and people from all over the world have come to stay with us in the last 100+ years. Recently the hotel has undergone refurbishment. You will find the owners, John and Lorna - who currently have 13 years experience running Lochmaddy Hotel - on duty most days.
John looks after all the fishing guests, giving them plenty of advice and often providing a ghillie service himself. Lorna is at reception most mornings, and is often a great source of local information. John and Lorna's eldest child Lewis, is duty manager, and his fiancee Eilidh - soon to be wife, is our fabulous pastry chef / kitchen manager. She is responsible for all our marvellous cakes, which are displayed in the lounge bar.
Lewis is on duty most days and you will often see him serving and looking after guests. He can also provide ghillie services for hotel guests. Their middle daughter Hannah does bar / waiting shifts at all times of the day, and also helps in the kitchen as a commis.

We Operate to the Highest standards of food hygiene at all times and this has been recognised by the Environmental health and the Scottish FSA (food standards agency) where we have attained a "Eat Safe" Award this is only for establishments that go "above and beyond" standard hygiene practises.

North Uist has literally Hundreds of Lochs to Choose from, many hill lochs that accommodate bank fishing only, and some North Uist Estate provide Boats on.
We have stunning Brown Trout from 3/4 pounds upwards to some caught at 6 and 7 pounds!
We have some of the finest quality sea trout fishing with many people coming to savour the spectacular sport in the sea pools, sea trout can be caught from early march until the last day in October, the thrill of landing a lifetime specimen in the sea pools is a truly exceptional experience.

We are locate about 300 yards from the ferry terminal, and are easily spotted.
Travelling from Benbecula airport follow signs that direct you North/Lochmaddy and once approaching the village continue straight until you "almost" reach the ferry terminal and you will see us.
If travelling from Berneray Ferry, follow signs to Lochmaddy and again once in the Village we are easy to spot.
