The Lake District National Park is a 40 minute drive away and the village of Gretna Green on the Scottish border is within a 20 minute drive of Fern Lee Guest House.
Carlisle Railway Station and Carlisle Bus Station are only a 15 minute walk away from Fern Lee Guest House.

If you prefer to look at the trail from the air, Border Air offer various scenic tours.
Carlisle Castle (20 min walk away) is over 900 years old and has been the scene of many historical episodes in British history.
