Situated in the very heart of medieval Shrewsbury, the historic Grade II listed Prince Rupert Hotel is firmly established as one of the town's finest hotels. The former home of Prince Rupert, the grandson of King James I, it combines old-world charm with modern comforts and hosts an array of historic period features. Surrounded by cobblestone streets and Tudor buildings, the Prince Rupert is perfectly located to explore all of the town's main attractions which are just a few minutes walk away.

Privately owned since 1996 by the Matthews family the hotel has benefited from a significant investment programme and now features 70 ensuite bedrooms including 12th century Mansion House Suites (some with a 4-poster canopy bed) 15th century Tudor Suites, three fabulous restaurants, Camellias Tearooms, garden courtyard and a fully equipped leisure suite.

Valet parking is provided to our own private car park. Dining is a real experience at The Prince Rupert Hotel with a choice of three restaurants to choose from.

Please be advised that to enable essential repairs to be made to the hotel scaffolding has been erected to the front of the property.
As you may be aware, the Prince Rupert Hotel is a Grade 2* Listed Building and is classified by English Heritage within the top 5% of important historic buildings within the UK.
We work closely with this organisation to ensure that the hotel is maintained to the correct standards and to ensure that the longevity of the building is continued.
Whilst the repairs are undertaken we will also take the opportunity to completely redecorate the exterior of the hotel.
Situated within the grand setting of the 12th century Mansion House with its own Jacobean staircase, Shrewsbury's oldest secular building offers the very finest in individual luxury and romantic accommodation.
Three of the suites are furnished with 4-poster beds, two have large Victorian roll top baths and one has a corner Jacuzzi bath.
All of the Mansion House Suites have been newly refurbished with designer fabrics from Skopos and Panaz together with antiques.
Situated within Shrewsbury's most historical secular building, the 12th Century Mansion House, the Charles Louis Suite features an ornate King size 4-poster bed draped with Panaz designer fabrics, high quality Hypnos pocket sprung bed and an historic oak panelled original fireplace.
Situated within the Georgian part of the hotel, Princess Charlotte is a large split level room featuring a romantic 4 poster bed draped with Skopos designer fabrics and fitted with a superbly comfortable Hypnos pocket sprung bed.
The bathroom provides a corner bath and separate walk-in shower.
The view is over the 12th Century historic St. Alkmund's church, its beautiful gardens and the famous Tudor Bear Steps.
Princess Charlotte benefits from having a separate sofa (ideal as a sofa bed for young children), flat screen LCD TV with Freeview, duvet, direct dial telephone, hair dryer, welcome tray with biscuits, BT Openzone WiFi, quality fluffy towels and Duck Island toiletries.
Chambers Bistro offers a traditional English style menu with a real focus on locally sourced seasonal fresh produce.
Situated adjacent to the Prince Rupert Hotel, Chambers is located in one of Shrewsbury's most historical 15th century Tudor buildings.
Since opening in 1997, Chambers has consistently been one of the town's most popular bistro's.
Great wines compliment the classical English dishes - all at sensible prices.
