We are situated in the picturesque coastal village of Staithes which is steeped in history and legend. Staithes began as a fishing community in the 1500's. Today it is a charming spot with every twist and turn of a cobbled street bringing into view another picture postcard scene, a veritable paradise for photographers and artists alike! Our accommodation is ideally placed as all the attractions of Staithes are within walking distance, including the harbour, museum, art gallery, pubs and cafes.

We are also well placed for exploring the surrounding areas such as Whitby, Goathland (Heartbeat), Grosmont (the North Yorkshire Steam Railway), Dalby and Guisborough Forests. The Cleveland Way passes through Staithes and the Sherpa Van Company can drop off luggage for those walking the long distance path. We are fortunate to have some long sandy beaches nearby and many rare fossils can be discovered between Staithes and Runswick Bay on what is aptly named 'the dinosaur coast'.

Fishing is excellent from the piers or trips in local Cobles can be arranged.
Services
Our property dates back to 1914 when it began life as a World War 1 Army camp.
Since then it has provided accommodation for large groups of visitors from schools, colleges and uniformed associations.
Since 2000, we have lovingly restored some of the barracks to create 4 self-catering lodges and 5 letting rooms.
If the self-catering lodges cannot accommodate all of your party, the rooms are close by.
We have created 5 beautifully furnished en suite double/ twin rooms that are appointed to a high standard.
