Founded as a Cistercian monastery on lands given by Hugh de Malbank, Lord of Nantwich in the 12th century, Combermere Abbey has survived the Dissolution of the Monasteries, religious arguments, civil war, debt and family tragedy.

In 1992, the great-granddaughter of Sir Kenneth Crossley, Sarah Callander Beckett, inherited the Combermere Abbey estate.
Passionately committed to its renaissance and the restoration of its buildings and land, she is exceptionally proud of the team she leads and their shared energy and enthusiasm for its success.
Following successful careers in advertising, horse racing and banking, Sarah's husband, Peter Beckett set up his own companies involved in project management and building restoration.
