Cwmiar Farm Holiday Cottages
We look forward to welcoming you to our idyllic, traditional working farm. Cwmiar Farm is on the slopes of Llanllwni mountain in the heart of rural Wales. Our 100 acres of farmland and six converted farm cottages are perfect for both a family or couples holiday. We are open all year round. On the farm we have six cottages situated around our farmyard.

Of these, five cottages are converted farm buildings with traditional stone walls and wood burning stoves or open fires. The sixth cottage is a little more modern. Our cottages can accommodate families or friends of varying numbers. Discounts are available in the quieter months if our two smaller cottages are already booked and you will not use all the bedrooms of a larger cottage.

Additionally, four of the cottages are wheelchair accessible and our amenities are wheelchair friendly. There are other farming activities to join in with too. These vary depending on the season but can include moving the cows and sheep between fields, checking fences and cutting hay.
Services
Our traditional old stone barns and watermill are lovingly converted into cosy, self-catering holiday cottages for families and couples.
With beams, inglenooks and stone walls, each cottage is unique.
Four of the cottages are accessible for wheelchair users.
In addition we have made the farm as accessible as possible for wheelchair users so that everyone can join in with activities at Cwmiar.
For added safety we ask that our visitors only drive into the farmyard to pack or unpack their car on arrival and departure day - unless a member of their party has mobility issues.
The Old Water Mill was a threshing mill built hundreds of years ago.
The date 1773 is etched on the extension so we assume that the main building was built prior to that.
The mill is now a relaxing, comfortable and cosy family holiday cottage with all modern conveniences.
However, by keeping the stonework, the exposed beams and the water wheel it retains its original character and olde worlde charm.
Built on a slope, the upper door opens into a spacious open plan living area.
The hand crafted kitchen has a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, family size electric oven and a gas hob with 5 burners.
Miller's cottage was the milking parlour when Cwmiar was a commercial dairy.
When we took off the tin roof we discovered an ancient heather-thatched roof underneath.
Unfortunately this disintegrated into dust.
We would have liked to keep the old A frames, but decided it was impractical as people would have to climb over them to get into bed!
The old stone barn is now a relaxing and comfortable self-catering cottage with all modern conveniences yet it retains its olde worlde charm and atmosphere.
The Mill House is one of the the oldest buildings at Cwmiar, built at the same time or before the mill.
It is a crogloft - one of the first buildings to have sleeping accommodation in the loft and may date back to the Middle Ages.
This cottage was almost a ruin when we arrived but is now a comfortable, cosy cottage.
Our renovation keeps to the original style as much as modern convenience allows.
As a result, the open plan mezzanine double bedroom makes this ideal as a romantic honeymoon cottage.
Millpond Cottage is a very old stone barn.
Formerly it was a stable for the shire horses that worked the fields with their equipment and hay stored on the upper floor.
It is now a relaxing and comfortable farm holiday cottage with an olde worlde atmosphere created by the exposed beams and painted stonework.
At certain times of the year you can book this cottage at a reduced rate.
If we already have bookings for the two smaller cottages and if one or two of the bedrooms will be unoccupied.
Please ask for further details.
