Oxnead House offers four stylish, luxury, self-catering holiday cottages in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Our cottages: The Lodge, The Stable, The Barn and The Dairy are four converted buildings within the one acre gardens of our traditional 19th century farmhouse, each of which has its' own individual style and charm.

Holiday accommodation that provides a superior level of comfort and facilities that you can be sure will enable you to relax, unwind and enjoy the wonderful opportunities that a holiday in the tranquillity of the Southern Broads can offer.

Only 200 yards from Rockland Staithe, and the village pub, on the famous Wherrymans Way footpath, within easy walking distance of Wheatfen Nature reserve and the RSPB Reserve at Rockland Broad, the cottages are perfectly placed to enjoy the delights of the countryside and the wildlife which this lovely habitat sustains.A perfect location for walking, cycling, birdwatching, fishing, canoeing, boating or just relaxing, a holiday at Oxnead House would suit couples, families or larger groups.
Services
Having moved around the country due to work over the past 30 years and offspring have flown the nest, we felt it was time to return to Ian's home county in 2010, and a quieter pace of life.
We spent months travelling throughout Norfolk searching for the perfect place, but nothing was quite right; until we arrived at Oxnead House.
We felt at home the very first time we drove through the gates, and knew instantly that we had found what we were looking for.
Although there was a lot of work ahead for us to realise our vision, we could immediately see the potential, and loved the peace and beauty of the place.
Rockland St Mary itself is located approximate 7 miles south of Norwich with good road connection to the surrounding area.
Although quiet and laid back, it is very popular with walkers, birdwatchers*, fishermen, boaters and visitors who simply want to get away from the crowds.
The relatively undiscovered Rockland Broad hosts a wide variety of migrating birds as well as year round residents such as marsh harriers, barn owls, herons and waterfowl.
Shopping at Loddon, 6 miles by car with Co-op supermarket, two butchers and greengrocers, ATM, pharmacy.
Here at Oxnead House we are privileged to be positioned close enough to the Suffolk border and with easy access to Norwich's southern bypass that a surprisingly large number of the main tourist attractions of both counties are within an hour's drive.
Stately homes and gardens, churches, abbeys and cathedrals, castles and forts.
Blue flag beaches, amusement parks, adventure parks, zoos, steam railways, museums and galleries.
Shopping and exploring in Norwich and the county towns.
Cinemas and theatres, the fun of the fair, the end of the pier.
Approaching Norwich from the A11, take the 5th exit at the Thickthorn Roundabout onto the A47 to Great Yarmouth.
Oxnead house Holiday Cottages are located on the left hand side immediately after Green Lane, and before the pub and Staithe.
There is a sharp turning into the property, so caution should be taken.
If you are coming from the Norwich direction and miss the house, you will get to the New Inn at the bottom of the hill.
Turn around in their car park, and go back up the hill.
We are then the first house on the right just before Green Lane.
