My children and others, to whom I have recounted various aspects of my life history, have suggested that I put it down on paper.
I decided to split my story into four parts - namely, my musical career, my Canadian career, my time in the family textile business and my experience as a hotelier.
It was Mildred who suggested that this story is mainly for the children - so I ought to start at the beginning.
A couple of minutes walk will take you into the Saxon town of Somerton, possession of the Saxon Kings until well after the Middle Ages and the ancient capital of Wessex.
Today Somerton boasts a mix of impressive older buildings, a substantial 13th Century church and the grand centre piece of the ancient Market Cross.
The town offers several cafs and pubs all of which supply a range of beverages and food to suit the visitors needs and there is plenty of free parking available in the town or indeed at the Lynch.
We try to be relaxed and informal so that you can enjoy your stay with us at the Lynch Country House.
We do, however, also have to be mindful that we run a business and have certain responsibilities to all our guests and of course, we have to have a few house rules in place which form part of our terms and conditions which you accept when making your booking.
Check-out time from your room is before 11.00am in order to allow the house staff to ready the room for the next guests.
If you have specific requirements regarding your arrival/departure times we are very happy to try to accommodate although it is not always possible.
