Rye Hill Farm is just out of the village of Slaley, only 5 miles south of Hexham. We offer holiday accommodation for families and everyone looking for a peaceful break in the countryside in the beautiful County of Northumberland. We are a small family run, 300-year-old working sheep farm which is an ideal base for visiting Hexham & Corbridge, The Northumberland National Park, Hadrian's Wall and Slaley Hall, or just to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Here there is always a warm Northumbrian welcome awaiting you. The Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast is in part of our adapted stone farm buildings especially designed for visitors.
We serve a full English breakfast, have comfortable bedrooms - all en suite, and a guest lounge. We have been doing B&B for over 30 years now!. Our converted milking byre is now a spacious, and comfortable holiday cottage.

It is believed that there has been a property at Rye Hill for about 400 years, this would tie in with the area having a large smelting foundry at Dukesfield just below us here on the banks of Hexhamshire's Devils Water river.
It is said they would have up to 300 horse loads of lead ore a day arriving from the Pennine mines in 1800.
The house and buildings of Rye Hill date back to the 17 century and are constructed of local stone from Ladycross Quarry 3 miles away in Slaley Forest; it is still in existence being one of the last hand worked quarries in the UK.

We are about 15 minutes off the A69 trunk road which runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to Carlisle, just 5 miles South of the historic town of Hexham.
Via A1 in Which case drive all the way down to A69 Junction 75 signposted A69 Hexham and take the 3rd exit towards Hexham and follow the instructions from the East.
After 2.1 miles - after passing the Travellers Rest Pub on your left, turn right where you see our sign for Rye Hill Farm and a signpost for Ladycross.
