Services
A 400-year-old pub situated in the heart of Burcot, Oxfordshire, The Chequers is steeped in history and has many stories to tell.
The building seems to be of 16th century origin and is traditionally held to have been an Inn for farm labourers, servants, and river workers travelling up the Thames selling their wares.
Wool workers would frequent the Inn regularly arriving from the Chilterns.
In 1950 a fire broke out at the old dairy farm next door, destroying the building but luckily sparing the Inn.
Using locally sourced fresh ingredients, where possible, award winning head-chef Steven Sanderson has created a menu that caters for everyone.
From our ever popular Sunday roasts where friends and family meet and socialise, to our sharing boards and dessert.
Please note breakfast is currently only available in the restaurant Saturday and Sunday, 8am - 10am.
Using locally sourced fresh ingredients, where possible, award winning Chef-Owner Steven Sanderson has created a menu that caters for everyone.
His ability to create home-comfort food with a modern twist is evident throughout the ever-evolving menu.
He is guided by the seasons and he procures only the best produce available for his imaginative dishes.
Enjoy a bite of everything with our sharing boards, ideal for when you can't decide what to have!
For mains, we focus mainly on our unmissable British beef steaks which are 100% grass fed and slowly reared to produce rich, succulent & delicious aged beef.
Enjoy beers, wines, spirits, gins and cocktails - drinks to complement your meal or enjoy on their own with friends, family and work colleagues.
We have a range of both white and red wines together with sparkling Prosecco and Champagne and Ros.
One of Steve's favourite expressions when talking about the restaurant is "putting the fun back on the plate".
He's taken this a step further by "putting the fun back on the palate" with these wine offerings below!
This crisp, dry Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has gooseberry, tropical fruits, dried herbs and citrus flavours.
