Elgin and Moray Speyside has much to keep a visitor busy: castles, cathedrals and cooperages!
Here are a few attractions and activities we think you'll enjoy - all within 30 minutes' drive from our front door (or a short walk.)
Lady Hill Castle: Five minutes' walk, on a small hill giving great views over the town, are the ruins of a castle dating from the early 12 century.
Elgin Cathedral: This was an amazing feat of architecture when built in the 13th century.
It's earned the name 'The Lantern of the North.' Admission charges apply.
Elgin is 40 miles east from Inverness, and 65 miles north west from Aberdeen.
The Guest House is set back from the A96, the main road between Inverness and Aberdeen which goes through Elgin.
The Guest House car park can be accessed easily from South Street.
There are several routes to Elgin from the South, the main ones being the A9 to the A95 or the A96.
In our experience coming off the A95 at Carrbridge and using the B9007 offers a dramatic journey across the Dava moor (on a good day.)
Going south from Elgin, taking the A95 to Grantown-on-Spey has spectacular views of the Spey Valley with many distilleries to pass (or stop at!)
