In 1980 we commissioned David Peacock, a well known local artist, to sketch Ford Cottage - before we undertook any conversions to our home.
Ford Cottage was built around 1856 on land owned by the Marquis of Abergavenney.
The Marquis was a large landowner and his estates stretched into Kent and Sussex - almost as far as Brighton.
The Cottage was built to serve the big house next door, to provide a home for the coachmen and gardeners and was a "tied" cottage for many years.
At the turn of the century it was occupied by a Mrs Elizabeth Ford who, we presume, gave it the name, Ford Cottage.

The Hayloft is a detached, self-contained upstairs studio flat that can accommodate two adults.
Its features include a fully equipped kitchen, a TV/sitting area, as well as two single beds, downstairs toilet and shower room, washer/dryer.
If required an additional guest bed, travel cot or mobility shower stool can be provided.
The Stables Suite is entirely on the ground floor of Ford Cottage.
It is fully self-contained with its own front door and can accommodate one or two adults, or can be adapted for a family of up to three.

Built at the same time as Ford Cottage in 1856 the building initially served as a coach house and until recently had a rack for the tack and a raised platform on the upper floor which enabled the long shafts of he coaches to be stored on the lower floor.

The Hayloft is ideal for 2 guests and an extra single bed/travel cot can be included but this does reduce the space available.
The Stable Suite is solely ground floor and excellent for 2 people and the sitting room can be converted to take an additional child or adult.
Please note that we are a non-smoking household and that we regret we are unable to take pets at Ford Cottage.

Continue on A26 and after a mini roundabout proceed for further 50 yards where you will see on your left a finger post to a CAR Park in Linden Park - follow this sign into Linden Park Road.
Ford Cottage is up the hill, on the left, at the road junction with Montacute Road and Linden Park Road.
It is a white cottage with a white picket fence, you can turn immediately onto our gravel drive for off street parking.
