Yew Tree Farm
We look forward to welcoming you to Yew Tree Farm. Come and escape for a few days, relax, walk in this beautiful unspoilt valley ideally placed in the very heart of Lakeland. Take in the views, the wide open spaces and then relax and unwind in one of two en-suite guest rooms. It's a world you won't want to leave. Long before Beatrix Potter adopted the Herdwick sheep they roamed freely over the Lakeland landscape for over 1000 years and to this day enjoy a full life growing on the beautiful fells of Borrowdale.

Situated just six and half miles south of Keswick in the awe inspiring Borrowdale Valley, Yew Tree Farm has much to offer. If it's a few nights peace and relaxation you are looking for then why not try our Bed & Breakfast? Or, if you happen to be passing why not pop in for light refreshments at our Flock-In tearoom, where we also stock our delicious range of Herdwick meats - raised and prepared here on the farm.

Yew Tree Farm offers very much a traditional, personal service in, and on, a traditional Borrowdale farm, set in just the most amazing location.

We are proud to say that our food is homemade and unique to the Flock-In and that several of the dishes on our extensive menu are made with our own tasty and succulent award winning Herwick meat.
We can particularly recommend Linda's home-made Herdwick Pasties and Stew.
Whether you're on two wheels about to ascend the fantastic, but challenging, Honister Pass or you've just made it over from Buttermere, then a 1 minute detour off the main road at Rosthwaite is where you will find the well stocked and friendly Flock-In.
Herdwick sheep have roamed freely over the Lakeland landscape for over 1000 yrs and to this day enjoy a full life slowly growing on the beautiful fells of Borrowdale.
Each young Herdwick takes longer to mature than ordinary sheep; the result is a smaller animal yielding tender, lean meat with a mature gamey flavour.
The rich flavour of this tender Lakeland delicacy is definitely worth the wait, and being high in OMEGA 3, its good for you, so you can have your meat and eat it!
Borrowdale Herdwick is born here, and fully traceable from fell to fork.
From junction 40 on the M6 head west towards Keswick on the A66.
After around 16 miles take the sliproad off the A66 signposted Keswick and Windermere.
At the bottom of the sliproad turn left.
At the next T-junction turn right towards Keswick town centre and follow this road until you reach a mini-roundabout.
Turn left and stay on this road, crossing two roundabouts, until you reach Rosthwaite.
Upon entering the village take the first right and follow the narrow lane to the end where you will find the farm on the left.
If you have never visited Keswick and Borrowdale before then you are in for a real treat.
In many places little has probably changed in the last few hundred years.
We don't doubt that some of the more remote villages and hamlets are more accessible than they used to be, such as Watendlath, Rosthwaite and Stonethwaite, but we are certain that the scenery is as fantastic now as it has always been - truly stunning any time of the year!
